Family Restaurant

Our family restaurant theme this year for LOVE day was a bot cafe...going on a robot theme after picking up some great robot decorations at Target.

Before we sit down for a nice meal I always like to try to get some pictures of the kids!  I think I am done thinking I can get all of them to look at me and smile :)

This was Lady J valentines day and then in her pretty dress for our nice supper!!!  We love fun valentines glasses :)

The best one I got of them all looking and smiling.

Eben loves taking photos with mamas camera!  I think he is doing a great job learning how to take great pictures.

Daddy came home from work and we will all dressed and ready for our special family supper.  He is so good to us he bought Lady J and I each a beautiful rose and a funny cards.

The table was set with our love boxes

And a special valentines surprise from mama.

This year we were smart and took our family self photo before we dug in to our meal!!!  That way everyone looked clean and fancy.

Chocolate Cup Cakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

This month our sweet baby boy turned 1.  He is such a joy to have around bringing so much laughter and joy into our home...although you can't tell from this picture.  Like most kids when the camera comes out the smile goes away.

Between the party hats and all his siblings going crazy around him I think he might have been a little frightened.

For his birthday the kids wanted to have chocolate cup cakes and for me nothing goes better on chocolate cup cakes than peanut butter frosting.   This frosting recipe was the most delicious I have had so I had to share it.  I got the recipe from food network

Peanut butter frosting
1 cup icing sugar
1 cup peanut butter (I used natural crunchy)
5 Tbsp Butter
3/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup heavy cream

Place icing sugar, peanut butter, vanilla and salt in a bowl and mix on med-low speed until creamy.  Add the cream and beat on high speed until the mixture is light and smooth.

Happy birthday sweet boy!!!

Bench Seat

I am SO excited to share with you this bench seat project.  I had no idea what I was doing but thanks to one crafty cousin I was able to pull it off.

Our living room  just recently went through a make over and we were looking to put a bench seat in this corner.  We went out looking for one and found on for 1/2 price.  We knew that it was a little longer then the corner but we thought we would just pick it up in case we didn't find anything else.  That night as we were going over all the projects we were going to do the next day to get the TV hung up I noticed on Instagram my cousin posted a picture of a seat she had done!  With in one hour I knew that I could do that to this old toy boy that my grand-dad made for me when I was a kid.  I went to the fabric store the next day and was able to make this bench and get a set of pillows for $55 :)

Because it was my first time doing anything like this I have NO pictures of the process but I will tell you it was really easy.  I started by removing the lid off the toy box.  Sprayed it with glue and stuck a 2 inch foam onto it.  I used a pair of scissors to cut the excess foam off.  Next I took this beautiful fabric and folded it around and stapled it on!!  Within 1 hour this project was complete and I could not be happier with how it turned it.

The best part is that its not only a pretty little reading corner but it also holds a beautiful train set that the kids can play with in the living room.

dresser drawers turned to beautiful shelves

We just recently have changed up our living room to accommodate a flat screen TV.  I think there are only a few of us people left in the world who still owned a HUGE TV and cabinet to hold it in.   We got this cabinet back in 2009 off the side of the road during spring clean up week.  After after 6 years and 1 move we finally said good bye to it.

As we were putting it out to the side of the road I remembered seeing on Pinterest how to make beautiful shelves out of cupboard doors so I rescued the 2 draws and made them into beautiful shelves.  Besides holding our TV this cabinet also held the Wii stuff so I knew I wanted 1 shelve to be a place where we could put all things Wii.  I love how it turned out !!!  We ended up hanging the controllers from the straps and placing the games laying down so that our kids could read them and see which game they wanted to play.  The other shelve holds a lamp, kleenex and a few card type games that we like to play together.

This was a very easy project that looks so beautiful.  I am glad we got to keep a piece of this beauty in our home.
