Calling all Super Readers....

to the book club

This year Eben wanted a Super Readers birthday. I am sure if you have younger kids you know all about this show. It was pretty easy to pull off cause they have a lot of great printables on PBS kids for birthday invitations and cup cake toppers. I also found a no sew super hero cape pattern and went for it.
So for decorations I was so happy that a friend of mine picked up the Super Reader dolls for me at the local dollar store!! I know $2 for each one...that's not bad and Eben was so excited to play with them.
While shopping around at a second hand store for t-shirts to make the capes out of I came across this puzzle...and yes I squealed when I found it.

After all the kids arrived it was time to transform.

Each super reader got their own cape with their super letter on it.

Which was Happy Birthday Eben.

The cupcakes were such a big hit. All the Super Reader characters were on them so the kids wanted to pick out which one to eat.

And it was all over by 11:00 am!! I love morning parties. The kids are happy and full of energy so it was great that they could play outside.
Hip hip hoary the Super Readers Saved the Day!!!

oh and what would the party be without two very cute Princess Prestos!! heheheh

Kate! What is the pattern for those capes? We are doing a superhero theme for our VBS at my church (Heroes of the Bible) and it looks like a fun craft.
Katie that looks awesome! we are working on what we want to do for Reese's birthday party this year.. you did a great job!
Such a cute idea..you really pulled it all together so well.
Hi Kate,
I love the way you have decorated the cupcakes.Did you use a punch to make the cupcake toppers and where did you find the images from for the toppers...
Hey GK I did use my Cricut to make the scallops and the centers withe the characters on them came from the PBS website I believe.
Thanks a lot for your prompt response..
Hi Me. When our son was born on Christmas we had a friend tell us about someone they knew who did a half birthday so right from 6 months we did a little something fun on June 25th. I don't think we had an actually party with friends until his 21/2 birthday when I did sesame street and then this birthday for 3 1/2.
The Super Reader theme was cool and very easy to do. The capes are make out of old t-shirts I picked up at a second hand store and the letters are all make out of felt which I got 4/$1 at the dollar store. I free handed their initials and hot glued them onto the shirt. This was their "treat bag" to take home along with the W-writer pen.
Let me know if you do the party I would love to see some pictures!
Katie, I love this! Found it on Pinterest. I'm planning a Super Why! party for my 3yo this summer. You did a really nice job.
Hi Kate! I'm using a lot of your awesome ideas for my son's Super Why party this weekend. I've made a few of the capes but still have so much to do before the big event. Thanks for all the great details. My boys love Super Why. This is also such a great way to send the kids home with something fun and not just cheapy junk thrown into a bag.
hey kate...awesome! I'm totally gonna do your ideas for my 3 year olds party next month. Thank you for posting. Question...what dollar store did you friend score the plush dolls? Dollar Tree? Just thought I'd go in search :)
